Weed Side Story (2)

Gangsters started rushing into WeedCity like red spiders on a badly maintained dope plant. In 1925 the first gang wars broke out. The sheriff washed his hands of the whole affair and no wonder why… A couple of influential mobsters made offers that no known man could refuse. So he decided it would be wiser to deal with repairing the creaking closet door of his office than to get involved in the situation with ruthless police interventions.
It’s on that principle that WeedCity evolved : “If you can’t fight it, join it!” This slopiness generated by corruption and dirty money lead to a staggering fact in 1935, WeedCity was the town which had the most caretakers per square meter!
A lot of famous characters were bred, lived, sold and died in WeedCity. Robert Plank was one of them, the Hideout Saloon’s barman. The man who never slept without his Colt 45 and ended up confusing it with the switch of his bedside lamp. Herbert Zinck was another, the dean of the botanic FAQ, and inventor of the blue smoke weed (and ironically turned blue shortly after his discovery, snuffed out by his own billowing clouds).
Today the city has grown, and business too. Mobsters and crooks make themselves public and are regularly in the news headlines (not surprising as they are the owners of the big newspaper companies). However these success-stories continue to inspire budding gangsters and competition is getting more and more fierce.
But the best parts of the WeedCity story are yet to be written… on pure hemp paper of course!
